Obviously we had Corned Beef on Monday because, dir, we are Irish and it was St. Paddy's (NOT PATTIES - those are burgers) Day. It came out delish too. I added 2 Guinness in with the Carrots, Potatoes and Onion. I slabbed a whole bunch of Spicy Mustard on the Corned Beef. Added water to the Guinness to the top of the Corned Beef (but not completely submerged) and cooked that baby on High for 4 Hours then turned it down to low for the rest. Right before you are ready to eat, add the chopped up Cabbage and let that cook for no less than 20 minutes. One of our Melrose Neighbors made a fabulous Shephard's Pie. It was a good night all around. We do have fun up here in our Bubble.

Our Melrose Place (that's what we call our fabulous neighbors) Peeps get together almost every Sunday and more often than not, we cook a great meal. Last night was Turkey, Ham and all the great yumminess that go along with it. The bottom picture are Funfetti Brownies. Seriously.
Sad Face for the Patriot's losing. Here we go Bruins!

We found Nemo!
Is everyone all dug out? That was some storm! For those of you who don't know, we live up on a huge hill, in a condo complex that has one road in and one road out. Normally they do a fabulous job plowing and shoveling but this time, not so much! I don't know if it's because there was SO much snow and they just had too much to do, or what, but it's been 3 days since the snow stopped and the 1 road is pretty much still only 1.5 lanes wide. Not so safe. Or fun.
It was pretty bad Friday Night/Saturday Morning. We lost power for almost a day and it wasn't too bad at all, except it started getting a little cold as the sun started to set again on Saturday. We were with our neighbors trying to figure out what to cook. The grill is an obvious option, but when the grill is frozen shut, cheese and crackers make a do. Finally it came back on, and the driving ban was lifted, so we had the BRILLIANT idea (along with every. other. person.) to go out to an open restaurant. The roads were horrible, service was slow because of the (not joking) 3 people working to serve about 100 in the Chinese Restaurant we were at.
Sooo, with me being an aspiring photographer, you would have thought that I would have photographed the storm. You would think. Until the Auto-Focus stopped working on the camera. Major Bummer. Then it got super snowy and I didn't want to risk it getting wet. Then we lost power, and I couldn't charge my phone or else there would have been a slew of cell phone pictures. BUT I did take some so here they are!!
My Hunters that I had yet to wear from Christmas. If you do not have a pair, invest NOW!
Who needs a fridge, when you have a foot of snow to keep beverages chilled!

This is from the trek from the back condos, to ours. It took us 15 minutes to to about 250 feet. Kinda fun though.

Finn's new friend, Jo.

Buddy, trying to find a good spot.
The grill. That once we cleared off, found out it was frozen shut. Oh well.
Sunset, so pretty.
Finn, exhausted after trouncing in the snow!
If you are not cleared out, or have no power still, good luck with everything! Let's hope this next "storm" we are getting on Thursday doesn't add to the problems.
Enjoy the rest of your week!

Christmas via my iPhone
Happy Friday Everyone! I feel like I'm coming down with a cold. I hope I am lying to you. But they always start out the same way. Sore throat, then cold, now sneezing. So tonight I'm laying low because we are having some of my MIL (Mother-in-Law) side of the family over tomorrow for Christmas! Fingers crossed I wake up tomorrow and feel better. Lasagna needs to be eaten, and drinks need to be drank!
Today I'm going to show you my holiday, through my iPhone. Being an aspiring photographer, you would think that I would bring my camera everywhere. However, some people do not like having a camera in their face. So since I have only have my new phone for about a month, I am still obsessed with Instagram. There are a bunch of pictures and I could have added 20 more! I hope you enjoy my Christmas 2012 Story!
These next 3 are from one of my Melrose Neighbors. We always end up having impromptu brunches/dinner and these are from a brunch. T had some extra veggies and made a great Veggie Frittata and we had 2 pound of bacon, bagels and of course Champagne. Did I mention 5 women ate all of that food? We are a bunch of little piggies. :-)
Mimosas all around!
Buddy, the Mascot of Melrose Place
The Elf made his first appearance of the year. He was having a bath in OJ. Don't judge him.
I got those glasses as a Yankee Swap gift a couple of years ago and never ended up using them. So I take them out for Christmas. They are kind of ugly, but I don't really care. They are festive!
Some of my favorite Holiday Things: Floating Candles, Mason Jars, Cranberries, Nana's Christmas Tree :-)
I bought this at Target and I love it. My little Santa Beer Coozie.
For those who didn't get a Christmas Card, this is the one we used. It looks like he is under a towel, but it is actually a blanket and he does this himself. He loves to nuzzle he way into things.
Christmas Tree Shopping!
The finished product! It is a great tree, and lasted a month!
My mom's company always gets tickets to the Christmas Pops Spectacular so I love continuing the tradition. I just hope one day I can bring my kids (whenever they decide to come!)
The trees in front of the Christian Science Center on Huntington Ave. So pretty.
The Pops! There were a few special guests: Zoltan Mesko and a few other Patriots helped conduct a song. Governor Deval Patrick read "Twas the Night Before Christmas." And Vanessa Williams was the guest singer in the second half. It is always such a fun night.
Gorgeous ceiling of the Boston Symphony.
Another great Christmas Card Photo Op!
This was a planned Christmas Get-together with Melrose. It was supposed to be Brunch but it ended up starting around 2, so we basically ate and drank from 2:30 on. As you can see we had quite the spread. And then a ham, potatoes, quiche and salad were brought out. I told you we are piggies!
I got amazing cheese and meats from Whole Foods. So good!
Have you ever had a Poinsettia? It's champagne and pomegranate juice, and just delish! Not to mention a very pretty drink.
This is Sadie, my parents dog. They got her over the summer and she is such a sweetie, although it has taken a few months to get there. This big candy cane is wrapped in Sweet Potato. She thoroughly enjoyed chewing her way through that!
My Brother-in-Law and his very nice Christmas Sweater. Until you look at it just long enough to realize he is just fresh! No one noticed. It was great.
This is the best Christmas Gift Ever. Mac Book Air. Hubby knows me well. I can't wait to start creating on it!
Boys "Rock, Paper, Scissor" - ing over who gets the last shrimp. Typical holiday at the Noonan household!

All tuckered out after all the festivities! I think he will miss sleeping under the tree when we take it down.
I hope you enjoyed reading about my Christmas! It is such a wonderful Holiday. With all the horrible things happening in the news lately, it makes me feel a bit better knowing that I have such great family and friends.
I wish all of you a Happy and Fabulous New Year! Talk to you all in 2013!
